Portfolio
In today’s mortgage world, most lenders sell their loans on the secondary market to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA or VA. A lender that not only originates mortgage loans, but also holds a portfolio of their loans instead of selling them is called a portfolio lender. We have several lenders who offer portfolio products. Usually those products cater to specific needs such as LLC financing, investors who have over 10 financed properties, construction loans or to finance properties that are in disrepair are all situations when portfolio financing may come into play. Borrowers who have non-standard credit histories, or who are self-employed may need more creative options. Such lenders allow us to give our borrowers additional options when they don’t fit into the traditional profile of a borrower.
